EXPERIENCE:

ú    Law Firm of Watkins, Walker & Eroche, Houma, Louisiana.  Partner since 1980. General law practice in South Louisiana concentrating in healthcare law, general and medical malpractice defense, and related trial work in state and federal courts; general business related practice to include negotiating and writing contracts for the acquisition and sale of businesses and assets, and general corporate issues, banking law.

ú     Healthcare Law:  General counsel to the board of commissioners of a 261-bed general acute care medical center since 1979 – present. Experience in health-related legal issues include but are not limited to: medical malpractice, risk management and general defense issues; labor law issues including representation of health care providers; medical staff matters involving credentialing and quality of care; drafting and negotiation of contracts; and public bond financing issues, interfacing with special bond counsel, and public regulatory bodies.

ú    Business Law:  Negotiation and preparation of contracts for: the sale and acquisition of assets and businesses, credit agreements with lenders, offerings of oil and gas programs, the formation of corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and associated representation. 

ú      Military:  United States Air Force:  Captain, Judge Advocate General's Corps.  Rhein Main Air Force Base, Germany - June 1975 to June 1978 staff Judge Advocate's Office as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate to the Commander of the Air Force's 435th Tactical Airlift Wing (MAC) with duties of reviewing and interpreting contracts and prosecuting courts martial.  Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.  June, 1974 to June, 1975.   Area Defense Counsel. Served as Area Defense Counsel reporting directly to the Judge Advocate General of the Air Force. Duties included acting as defense counsel in courts‑martial under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and in Administrative proceedings.  November 1973 to June 1974 Assistant Staff Judge Advocate to the Commander of the Air Force's Armament and Development Testing Center (TAC) with duties of reviewing and interpreting contracts and prosecuting courts martial.
